£50 per hour

Whether you’re looking to finish a project or simply gain confidence as a writer, I can provide tailored advice to bring out the best in your work.

I offer one hour coaching sessions via Zoom. Following an initial conference call, I develop a lesson plan that meets your individual needs. This could include:

• Annotation and feedback on a pre-selected sample.

• Assistance with plotting.

• Confidence building, motivation, and the implementation of writing habits.

• A breakdown of core writing principles.

• Help with common issues such as writer’s block.

  All lesson plans will be developed in consultation with the client and subject to client approval. In the interest of best meeting client needs, I am prepared to discuss alternate methods of lesson delivery should circumstances dictate.

  Developmental Editing

  £28 per hour

  I charge per hour for developmental editing. This fee encompasses both the initial manuscript review and the drafting of the editorial report. I advise on:

• Plot

• Structure

• Pacing

• Character development

• Worldbuilding

• Style

• Dialogue

• Tone

  At the conclusion of an edit, I will provide the client with an editorial report that highlights areas in need of improvement and suggests adjustments where appropriate.

  Editing

  £25 per hour

  I charge per hour for copy and line editing, based on an average rate of 1000 words per hour. This includes:

• Spelling

• Punctuation

• Grammar

• Typographical errors

• Formatting

• Consistency

• Word choice

• Pacing and flow

• Dialogue use - tone, use of dialogue tags, correct punctuation

• Run-on sentences

• Repetition and extraneous words

• Suggestions for enhancing mood, tone and characterisation

  At the conclusion of an edit, a client will receive a detailed report via email giving overall impressions of the project and highlighting persistent issues. Where applicable, I will explain changes I have made in the form of annotated comments.
