About Me

In 2019, I graduated from the University of Sheffield with a PhD in English literature. After spending more than a decade analysing other people’s writing, I emerged with a few more grey hairs, an unhealthy relationship with caffeine, and a completely altered perspective on reading. There’s that old adage about knowing how the sausage is made. Once you’ve cultivated an extensive knowledge of story craft, you’ll never look at a book the same way again. After spending a long time finding this mindset, I realised I could use it to help other people make their writing dreams come true.

Of course, it’s one thing to know something and quite another to be able to share it. Fortunately, my doctoral studies also provided me with valuable teaching experience. Teaching undergraduates has impressed on me the importance of sensitive and constructive feedback. This has helped me a great deal with my editing and coaching work. I strive to develop a rapport with my clients and value clear and consistent communication.

I realise that submitting your work to an editor for the first time can be intimidating, so I aim to make the process as frictionless as possible. As a self-published author myself, I understand firsthand the difficult journey from manuscript to publication. That experience enables me to better support my clients.

When I’m not poring over manuscripts, I can be found walking the dog, feeding my collection of tarantulas (don’t worry, you don’t have to meet them), and driving my wife up the wall.
